Three IP to IP routes are required. The screen capture below shows the three rows as
configured in the MSBG.
The first route, shown as Index ‘1’ receives and forwards the SIP Options messages from Lync
to the Metaswitch call agent. Typically Options message stop at the MSBG. Forwarding allows
the keep alive functionality.
The second route (Index ‘2’), receives and forwards all SIP signaling traffic from Source IP
Group ID ‘1’ (LAN-side of the MSBG) to Destination IP Group ID ‘2’ and SRD ‘2.’ These values
represent the WAN-side of the MSBG. In a similar manner, Index ‘3’ receives and forwards all
SIP signaling traffic from Source IP Group ‘2’ (WAN-side) to Destination IP Group ‘1’ and SRD
‘1.’ The latter values represent the LAN-side of the MSBG.
